Stable Cottage (sleeps 4) has seen many changes over the years, it was built in the14/15^th century as a thatched “farmer’s cottage”, converted to stables in the early 1700’s, farm office in the early 1950’s, dairy office 1960’s and then back to living accommodation again and its current state in 1999 with much of the original stonework and polished oak beams, etc. shown to advantage.

It provides a dream holiday setting/base from which a small family or two couples can enjoy Chipping Campden, the Cotswolds and Stratford upon Avon and Shakespeare country, etc.

Walk in through the front door and you are into a hallway, the first door on the right opens into the spacious and well-equipped farmhouse style kitchen.  A Welsh dresser immediately sets the scene and the table will seat the occupants plus a couple of guests.

There are numerous key features for the serious gourmets, including four-ring gas hob, efficient extractor hood, electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, food processor & utensils along with the all essential dishwasher.   A Digital radio/CD player & iPod docking station plus WiFi access provides the background music to sooth the chef.

A second doorway leads from the kitchen to a small hall where:

• Left is into the lockable broom cupboard under the stairs.

• Right is to the old stable doors which open onto the sheltered and sun drenched courtyard garden and patio where you can breakfast in the morning, relax and while away the time and/or enjoy the evening sunset.

• Straight across takes you into the relaxing lounge (cool in summer, warm in winter) – comfortable armchairs & settee, 30” television/video/DVD player including Free-View, ancillary furniture and log effect stove.   Just the place for you to relax with a book and/or an endearing drink in comfortable armchairs and a settee, particularly after that brisk early morning walk in the refreshing autumnal air. The door at the other end opens into the hallway with access to the utility room & toilet and the staircase.

The utility room contains the washer/drier and central heating boiler with door to the ground floor toilet beyond.

Up the staircase and to your left is the master ensuite bedroom , which enjoys a king-sized four-poster bed; ample matching bedroom furniture, television and plenty room for a quiet sit-down away from the rigours of the day.  Toilet, basin and bath occupy the well-equipped ensuite bathroom. Dovers Hill creates a lovely backdrop through the small dressing room window and is owned by the National Trust – it is at least half-mile in length along the edge of the ridge and provides open views over The Vale of Evesham, Bredon Hill, The Malverns and Black Mountains into Wales.

To the right at te top of the staircase is the second bedroom with double bed and ensuite bathroom. The original stonework and hand waxed beams add to the cosy and comfortable atmosphere.

At the top of the stairs there is a storage cupboard for empty suitcases, etc. Clean line, towels and all services are included in the charge and the cottage is thoroughly cleaned between lets.

For those unfortunate allergy sufferers, we request that guests do not smoke within the cottage and with the exception of guide dogs (for which a small additional cleaning charge is made), we do not allow pets in the cottage.

Thank you for letting us stay in Stable Cottage over the Christmas period.   It is the best cottage we have stayed in, very cosy, relaxing and quiet and extremely well equipped.

"My husband and I stayed at Stable Cottage from January to March so we were fortunate enough to experience  the cottage and Chipping Campden in the dead of winter as well as in the  Springtime.  It was warm and welcoming in the winter and bright and sunny as the weather improved.

Stable Cottage is cosy but also deceptively spacious with a large kitchen which we spent most of our time in.  Due to our lengthy stay, laundry was a serious issue and this cottage even has a small utility room with washer/dryer as well as an extra sink.  The four poster bed was very comfortable and we were pleased that there was so much storage space.

We were very impressed with the house in general and on arrival, the owners had left us butter, bread, milk, cornflakes and orange juice which we felt was very thoughtful indeed.  There was even tea and coffee available.  All in all, we were looked after very well indeed.

Chipping Campden is a wonderful place and we made the most of it’s charm.  There are so many restaurants to choose from and the tea rooms are really wonderful and make you feel that you are stepping back in time.

Our whole experience there was wonderful and we would have no hesitation in recommending Stable Cottage to anyone."    ----   K&P
