Meadow Cottage
The other equally nice cottage for a couple is Jeff’s absolutely gorgeous Meadow Cottage in nearby Charingworth which is just a short distance from the Ebrington Arms and the pretty village of Ebrington. It has just about everything you will ever want from a holiday cottage in Chipping Campden and the Cotswolds with lovely countryside views.
Jeff always aims to surprise you with his “welcome basket” and to provide you with a real value for money opportunity to enjoy this lovely cottage and its beautiful rural setting. He has spent a lot of time this spring and early summer enhancing its outdoor areas and gardens.
Set on a slight slope facing towards the south, it fits seamlessly into the local surroundings with a lovely view of Paxford and Cotswold Lions (sheep) grazing the adjacent field/hillside. Charingworth is a well-hidden and ancient hamlet with a couple of very old farmsteads and a lot of history.
Meadow Cottage is a spacious, well-thought-out picturesque barn conversion, with large south-facing picture windows, a well-equipped lounge/diner/kitchen with tasteful furnishings and excellent cooking facilities. The original roof timbers and a log burner add to the country feel and ambience, making this a holiday cottage in Chipping Campden that you will never want to leave.
The master bedroom enjoys a king-size bed with it’s his and hers fitted wardrobes and an adjacent bathroom and there are extensive views through the front glass facade over the rolling countryside.
The colourful patio area immediately in front of the cottage is there for you to relax in along with either breakfast in the morning sunshine or a nice glass of something special as the sun goes down in the evening. Beyond the parking and turning area, you will find a couple of secluded garden areas with a small pond, comfortable garden furniture and exquisite views all around.

The Old Granary
Although Michael currently uses it as his residence, this unusual upside-down holiday cottage in Chipping Campden can be made available on occasions (ring him to check) and has plenty of captivating charm. The sunsets up the valley towards Campden Wood from the light and airy first-floor lounge/kitchen/diner can be absolutely stunning.
This Tardis-like room has everything that you want and the space to use it in. All that you or a good chef will need is provided by the limed oak kitchen, with plenty of space to comfortably operate in. It is even big enough to take a relatively easy-to-use king-size double sofa bed for an extra guest or two.
The ground floor bedroom had a new Karndean floor for easy wheelchair movement, a sturdy and comfortable double bed and bedroom furniture and plenty of space to relax in, plus a well-equipped ensuite wet room with a non-slip floor. The thick walls and 5-foot thick stone steps outside mean that this room remains relatively cool during the summer and warm in winter.
Whilst most wheelchair users will be able to get over the 1.5” threshold to get into the room, the stairway to the first floor will be impossible. To make life on the ground floor bearable for them, there is a large colour TV and plenty of space to eat and relax.
As an above-knee amputee, Michael used to be able to get up and down between the two floors, but recently, very restricted movement due to arthritis and tendonitis has put a stop to this. He is currently looking at removing the stairway and installing an internal lift capable of taking a wheelchair. In the next 12 – 18 months, he is also looking at including an electric car-charging point
Holiday cottages in Chipping Campden for Four or More People
Looking for a relaxing getaway with friends or family? Cotswold Charm has plenty of charming cottages for rent that can accommodate up to four people. There are plenty of activities and attractions close by to keep everyone entertained.
Stable Cottage
Without exception, our guests have reported Michael’s sister Margaret’s Stable Cottage with its combination of historic elements and modern kitchen fittings as the nicest and most relaxing holiday cottage in Chipping Campden and the Cotswolds for either two couples or a small family. It is a beautiful cottage and a favourite for Chipping Campden holiday cottages.
It is a time warp with the majority of the original stonework and polished oak beams, etc. shown to advantage and yet it has been tastefully upgraded to meet the needs of today’s guests. Quietly set off Blind Lane and behind the old farmhouse, it enjoys a suntrap of a secluded, sheltered and colourful courtyard garden where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning sunshine, move slightly to have lunch in the shade and later relax with your favorite glass as the sun sets.
Stable Cottage’s history is obvious from the moment you step into it from the courtyard garden, the spacious farmhouse kitchen which has a new oven and extractor unit, is cool in the summer and warm in the winter thanks to being a stone cottage.
Once you nestle into one of the armchairs in the lounge of an evening, you will find it difficult to leave before retiring for the night.
Over the last year or so, both bathrooms have been upgraded, the master bedroom ensuite has been reconfigured to make it roomier and easier to use and the king-size four-poster makes for a good night’s sleep. The smaller bedroom ensuite has been converted to a wet-room with more headroom height.
The internal timbers and the stonework of the gable ends of the bedrooms all tell the story of the changes from the original sixteenth century thatched farmer’s cottage through to today and are a great part of Stable Cottage’s ambiance and attractiveness.
It offers a truly relaxing and delightful holiday setting/base from which a family or two couples can enjoy the beauty and history of Chipping Campden, the Cotswolds and Stratford upon Avon and Shakespeare country, etc.
Over the Arches
Mark and Deenie, owners of the nearby Volunteer Inn have put their own mark on the very popular Over the Arches by a careful and tasteful internal redecoration of the whole cottage and at the same time they have fitted LED lights, etc. to reduce its energy footprint. The whole cottage now has an even more charming and welcoming ambiance to it.
One of a number of popular Chipping Campden holiday cottages, Over the Arches is located in Park Road just 200 meters from Chipping Campden’s historic the High Street and its many and varied shops, restaurants and local amenities. There are plenty of footpaths and walks for the rambler and bicycles can be hired from the nearby Volunteer Inn to enjoy the Cotswold and Warwickshire lanes, or you can simply have a restful holiday in a beautiful area.
Accessed from the patio and parking area, the ground floor incorporates a large lounge/reception room with large colour TV. It enjoys two luxury sofas one of which converts to a comfortable double bed and there is an adjacent en-suite shower room. Outside, there is a small sun-drenched patio where you can enjoy your breakfast in the morning sunshine.
Up the adjacent stairs you will find the well-appointed lounge/kitchen/diner complete with breakfast bar all the accoutrements that any chef is likely to need. The two double bedrooms are off a landing with just one step up to the master bedroom with separate dressing room and luxury shower room.
All prices shown are for an online booking are for a 2-bedroom unit sleeping up to 4 persons, a further two persons can be accommodated at the additional charge of £35.00 per head per night – if you wish to do this, please contact Michael on 01386 840164 to make the necessary arrangements.
For those that enjoy Indian style food and cooking, the Maharaja (Indian Restaurant) at the Volunteer Inn is the place to be. Its menu contains mainly traditional firm favorites, but additionally, there are always some new and exciting dishes that can be created especially for you by their chef. Takeaways are 10% cheaper than the same dish in the restaurant.
The Volunteer Inn is a friendly, locals’ pub with dartboard, TV screens showing the latest sport and offering the cheapest beer in town!! They provide an Indian Banquet every Tuesday evening at a cost of £10.99.
George Barn
George Barn is a spacious, light, airy and flexible barn conversion that can sleep up 8 people in 4 comfortable ensuite double bedrooms and yet retaining most its historic context and features. It is attached to Top Farm’s 18th century farmhouse and sits at the entrance to the old Rick Yard.
Because 2 of the first floor bedrooms can be locked, Michael can let and price it accordingly as a 2, 3 or 4-bedroom cottage. Although not obvious, the ground floor is completely wheelchair accessible with wide doors and caters for those with a whole range of disabilities. The bedroom has an electric profiling double bed and wall mounted TV (Sky, etc.), whilst the and adjacent ensuite wet-room which can be accessed through a pair of swing doors, has a comfort height toilet, wall mounted bars and shower seat plus the luxury of a body drier (all heights can be seen on our website) and when needed a shower wheelchair.
The large lounge/kitchen/diner has a table that will comfortably seat 8 or more in carvers, two 3-seat settees and an adjustable electric armchair, the position of all can be moved to suit the occupants as the time. The 50” smart TV comes with a good Sky package including BT Sport, etc. and there is high speed broadband for those that need it. Under floor heating saves space and provides you with a warm feel when you first put your feet down in the morning.
Cooking is centered on an electric rise and fall table/worktop including sink and induction hob, to the left of which is an electric fan assisted oven with pull out shelf to aid transfer, and to the right you will find the dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble drier, etc.
Just beyond the garage where your cycles can be securely stored during your stay, we have introduced a wheelchair accessible garden with table and chairs. For larger families with energetic children that you want to run around in safety, there is small orchard area just across on the other side of Blind Lane. This can also provide a lovely spot for picnics with views up and across the valley towards Campden Wood and Dover’s Hill and spectacular evening sunsets. It is an excellent location.
Although not in place at the moment, the aim is to install an electric car charging point during the coming winter.
Chipping Campden Accommodation for Larger Groups
The closeness of George Barn and Stable Cottage alongside the old Rick Yard enables then to cope with up to 12 guests within a less than 10-minute walk of Chipping Campden’s historic High Street, its eateries, pubs and shops.
Pearl and John’s Tally Ho and Tally Ho View are about 175 yards away in Dyers Lane at the bottom of Blind Lane and that little bit closer to the High Street.

Having got through Covid without any real hiccups, we continue to adhere to all the appropriate preventative measures, with special care being taken to thoroughly clean the cottages between bookings to safeguard both you and ourselves.
Pets and Smoking
We have always had a very strict non-smoking and no pets policy in all of our cottages and this has been one of our strongest selling points. We do allow caring and guiding dogs, but have to charge an extra £60.00 cleaning fee for them and also ask you to give us enough time to carry an extremely thorough clean before the next guest is due to arrive.
Accommdation Costs and Prices
We continue to monitor and take steps to reduce our energy usage as much as possible, but as I am sure you are all too well aware, the costs of energy, cleaning materials, laundry and cleaners, etc. have all gone up by at least 40% over the last 6 months or so. Nevertheless, we have kept the cost of staying in any of Cotswold Charm’s holiday cottages in Chipping Campden at the prices we set in 2021, which we hope will remain the same for 2023.
Rather than increase our prices to cover these fixed costs for a short stay, we have however instigated a 3-night minimum price for short stays. The nightly prices for longer stays remain at the 2021 level and we believe that these continue to represent very good value for money.
Our current aim is to take bookings and honour them over the next 12 months at the existing prices. The situation will be kept under review and if there is a desperate need for adjustment, we will give you plenty of notice and the option of the return of any deposit that has been paid.
